Poly-Pac, the polycarbonate expert
Polycarbonate is a thermoplastic polymer renowned for its high impact resistance, transparency and lightness. Invented in the 1G50s, it is mainly associated with the work of Hermann Schnell at Bayer and Daniel Fox at General Electric, who simultaneously developed this innovative material.
The discovery of polycarbonate has revolutionised many sectors, from the automotive industry to electronics and safety glasses. Used for applications as varied as CDs, unbreakable glasses and telephone covers, polycarbonate has made its mark thanks to its unique properties, which combine strength and lightness.
Poly-Pac specialised in this material in 2001 because of its ability to provide excellent thermal and acoustic insulation, while allowing great flexibility in architectural design thanks to its transparency and ease of shaping.
